Thursday July 4th

Tried to do a blog earlier, but something went wrong and I lost it all. So here goes...
Thursday July 4th,,,Happy Birthday America!
Fixing to go spend the day at a local Hotel and enjoy the pool and beach with some missionaries and workers here.

Got back yesterday from 3 days in the village and it was HOT HOT...had it not been for the breeze off the lake it would have been unbearable. We slept on the porch 2 nights just for the coolness of the night air.

We finished building 3 screen doors and installed them before the rainy season starts and that brings mosquitoes. Little Marta just cried and cried when she saw them. Such a small thing to us, but a necessity for them.

Peggy spent 3 days at the mission compound and got to witness the wonderful work that is going on with the Muslim kids. There were 22 one day and they are memorizing John 3:16, the 10 commandments, as well as creation verses. They do morning exercises and sing choruses and what a blessing to see. One young teen ager who interprets the lessons into Wolof, has so much potential, Peggy just cries and prays over him every time she sees him. On Wednesday, their graduation day, the kids told us that the young man couldn't come because one of the boys told him, "If you go to school, I will tell your father".  Peggy just cried and cried when she heard this. BUT God.....in walked the boy with his friends. I don't know the outcome when he got home, but he was there and he is such a leader to his peers and truly can see the intensity in his translation and his memorization...Just pray for him,,,don't know his name, but he is known by God...

All the kids stood in front of the class and recited the 10 commandments and John 3:16. I told Peggy, "Kids are kids all over the world. You can see the hesitation and frustration in their voices as they tried their best." In the end, they all got a gift bag of goodies, thanks to the donations of people who support that ministry.

Will post as many pictures as I can, but will follow up in the next few days to try to cover all bases of life in the village.

God Bless and have a safe 4th..
